Scanner completely locked up. Had to remove power to regain control.

-- RichardVictor - 25 Sep 2009

Scanner stops on P25 conventional channel that it doesn't decode well even with the correct NAC, locks up, no control response from keypad or scroll knob. Must have all power removed to restore. Is not always stopped on the same channel. Occurs at random. Scanner is connected to an outdoor antenna and AC power.

Scanner was scanning the P25 system I had programmed (visually on screen) however no audio came through the speaker. The signal bar was at 4-5 bars. At the time of problem the P25 system in question was the only thing I was scanning at that time. The problem happend after the scanner was on for a few hours. After troubleshooting as best I could, turned the scanner off for about 5-10 seconds. Turned back on and the P25 system scanned properly.

Scanner is normally just sitting on my desk. It is not in any direct sunlight. I keep the AC power adapter plugged in 24/7 ( batteries installed ) and scanner turned on 24/7. Scanner will just stop receiving transmissions. At that time, the scanner will not connect to the home computer using the USB cable. All key's still work, I can go in an edit settings, ect. Everything is acting normal, display show's it is scanning ( ID search ), you can see the GRP numbers flashing as it scan's.

To receive transmissions again, I had to unplug the AC power and take out the batteries. After re-install of both, it was working 100% again, including the USB to computer.

Scanner stopped decoding after 7-10 days of constant A/C operation. 5 bars flash on/off. Reset scanner with power removal/reconnect. Currently working, but waiting for the freeze...
