BCD536HP Wi-Fi Test
This page outlines the steps needed to update the Wi-Fi Dongle and the scanner firmware, then run the Wi-Fi test software on a PC.Note that throughout this process you may get some warnings about unsigned drivers or unsafe programs. All of the software has been check and verified as virus free. You can safely bypass the warnings.
Update the Dongle
- Unzip STM_VCP.zip, BC-WF1_FirmwareUpdater_Version0.00.03.zip, and BC-WF1_V7_28.zip.
- Install USB driver in STM_VCP for Windows by running the appropriate version of VCP_V1.3.1_Setup.
- Plug the BC-WF1 (wifi dongle) USB jack directly into an unused USB port on your PC.
- Unzip BC-WF1_V7_28.zip to a temporary directory on your PC.
- Install the BC-WF1_FirmwareUpdater.
- Execute BC-WF1_FirmwareUpdater.
- Select Serial Port and the Firmware BC-WF1_V7_28.bin you extracted in Step 4.
- Press Start updating button.
If an error message appears unplug, then replug in the dongle and repeat from Step 7.
Update the Scanner Firmware
- Plug your scanner into your PC and select Mass Storage mode.
- Download BCD536HP_V0_31_12.bin and copy it to the FIRMWARE directory on your scanner.
- Unplug the USB cable from your PC. The update should start and be applied
Install VLC Media Player
Go to
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html and install VLC media player.
Run VLC Media Player
After starting VLC, select the scanner's audio by selecting MEDIA --> Network Stream and then entering rtsp://192.168.1.1/au:scanner.au (replace the IP address with the actual IP address of your scanner).
You should begin hearing the scanner's audio through your PC speaker.
Run the Remote Control Test Software
Click on
RH-536HP_mkII.exe to run the test application. The scanner can be controlled using this remote software. (UPDATED 1/15/2015)
