Your scanner can trigger alerts for several different events. The table below shows the different alerts and how to program them:

Follow these steps |
A channel becomes active |
Edit the channel properties (Edit Channel#Set Alert): - Go to the Program System menu and select the system that contains the channel you want set the alert for.
- Select Edit Group , then select the group you want.
- Select Edit Channel, then select the channel you want to set the alert for.
- Select Set Alert .
- Choose the Alert Tone and Alert Light you want the scanner to use.

An active Talk Group on a system contains an emergency flag |
Edit the system properties (Edit Sys Option#Emergency Alert): - Go to the Program System menu and select the system you want set the alert for.
- Select Edit Sys Option, then select Emergency Alert .
- Choose the Alert Tone and Alert Light you want the scanner to use.

The scanner detects a Close Call hit |
Edit the Close Call properties: - Go to the Close Call menu.
- Select Set CC Alert .
- Choose the Alert Tone and Alert Light you want the scanner to use.
- For Close Call Alerts, you can also have the scanner pause before it resumes searching. Select Set CC Pause to activate this feature.

The scanner gets a hit on a Tone-Out channel |
Edit the Tone-Out channel properties: - Go to the Tone-Out for... menu.
- Select Tone-Out Setup , then select the Tone-Out channel you want to set the alert for.
- Select Set Alert .
- Choose the Alert Tone and Alert Light you want the scanner to use.

You approach a particular location - Point of Interest( POI )
- Dangerous Road
- Dangerous Intersection ( Dangerous Xing )

Edit the location properties: - Go to the Program Location menu and select the type of location you want set the alert for.
- Select the particular location.
- For a POI, select Set Alert , then choose the Alert Tone and the Alert Light you want to use.
- For a Dangerous Road or Xing, the alert tone is preset. Select the Alert Volume and the Alert Light you want to use.

NOTE: The scanner also triggers alerts for Weather Alerts (
WX Operation#Weather Alerts), but you can't edit the alert tone and light.
